Dear Friends,
Thank you very much for your patience and cooperation during emergency server upgrade. Our new server "LION" crashed unexpectedly on Thanksgiving Day, November 28th, 2019. This is second major outage since September. Again, both NVMe disks in RAID-1 had been severely corrupted. In order to avoid similar events in the future, we decided to order brand new Dell server (we named it "MOUSE") with completely different hardware setup:
- New (2019) processor from Intel. Now it's possible to run onsite and offsite backups without CPU overload / slow downs;
- More PHP and physical memory available. You can now run intensive PHP scripts without "resource usage" warnings;
- Reliable SSD disks from Samsung (data center edition);
- Improved onsite backups: soon you'll be able to download up to 4 weekly backups within cPanel. First backup will be processed next Sunday, December 1st, 2019. Websites up to 20 GB of data will be included in automatic backup batch. If you host large website (over 20 GB), please contact us for manual backup procedure. We'll generate manual backup for you.
All websites have been restored on new server: MOUSE. Please update your bookmarks. If you used secure email channels (POP3, SMTP and IMAP), please replace "lion" with "mouse".
Once again, we're sorry for the inconvenience. We'll do everything possible to improve service uptime.
We hope you enjoy your new server,
WestNIC Staff
